The countdown is on for Derry’s first ever Fun Palace, where everyone’s an artist and everyone’s a scientist, which will take place in the picturesque surroundings of the Craft Village this weekend.
The international festival campaigns for culture at the heart of community with an annual weekend of arts and science events created by, for and with local people.
The free family event is scheduled across two days, Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd of October from 1-5pm and consists of Art Exhibitions, Busking, Dance, a No Drama Corner, Book Readings, Comic Book Art, Science and Art Workshops as well as some cheeky clown fun and impressive circus performances.
Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Alderman Hilary McClintock was at the Craft Village today and was joined by an array of talent who will be performing at this weekend’s event.
Under the Craft Village canopy, you will be able to hear live music from local musicians, be entertained by fantastic dance groups, take part in various workshops, and even lend your hand at some pumpkin carving!
Across the square in the Craft Village Cottage there will be art and science workshops and exhibitions as well as comic book fun from Revolve Comics while a photography and fine art exhibition will be on display at 35 Shipquay Street, the site of what was previously the Social Studios Gallery.
So come along to the Craft Village this Saturday and Sunday from 1-5pm for what will be a fantastic free family fun event for kids both young and old.
